Collaborative Creativity Tools
I have realized that I think about design operations more and more as I better understand my creative practice. Maybe this is because of a failed attempt at creating a design agency or because I am now joining one under a large corporate umbrella. I have developed some introspection on my strong opinions.
Some prompts which catalyzed this self-articulation into meaning:
What is the right amount of structure for a mood board, mindmap, or other interactive collaborative tools?
What is the heuristic of good tools?
On what does creativity align?
In answering these questions, tools for collaborative creativity are comprised of at least the following axioms: generativity and alignment. Alignment is composed of aesthetics and semiotic categories (a deep dive and articulation of these two is needed).
These two axioms are signals of the dynamics of collaborative creativity. There is the unit and the collective: the picture within the white space and its relationship among other pictures, the individual creative, and their relationship to the group. The complexity of social interaction begs the question: What does complexity make available—regardless of scale? What exists between the individual and the group?
